Dia De Los Muertos, the Day of the Dead, is approaching, and with it the annual celebration of the "Night of the Dread" in our local park. It is a night during which we face and shout, "Booooo!!!!" at our fears. Our eldest daughter was so pleased with the whole thing, she's been looking forward to it all year, and for months has been asking to go dressed as Sadie the Skeleton Fairy (a fairy of her own invention).

Today we started gathering things for her costume, and I made her a Sadie the Skeleton Fairy shirt. The choice of fabric was inspired by the colourful skulls that feature in many Day of the Dead celebrations. Here is the shirt mid-process...

  2. Um. You really do a LOT given that you have 2 wee babes. Love the colours in the skull. They remind me of those in a Mexican picture book I have in the collection.

  3. PM, yes. I find them tedious and insidious, but she LOVES them.
