Add-On

I forgot that I had already taken a photo today...

Only, I'm still a day behind, but I don't know which day I missed. I'm sure it would be easy enough to determine, but who has the time?

  1. Neat idea. I'm about where you are; that is, in where am I now land.

  2. Setting custom white balance on a Canon DSLR is easy. The hardest part is waiting almost 2 years to look it up in the manual. Here's what you do:

Go into the room with the bad lighting and take a white piece of paper with you.

Take a picture of the white piece of paper making sure you fill the viewfinder with it.

After you take your picture, go to the camera's Menu button. Once you have the menu up, scroll to select the little icon with the reddish orange camera that has 2 stars beside it.

On this menu's list you will see "Custom White Balance" as an option. Select it. It will then ask you what picture you want to use to base the white balance on and it will, be default, show the last picture you took. Simply accept the default and follow the prompts.

Once you've left the menu, hit the WB button on the back of your camera and scroll over to "Custom White Balance." Start taking pictures. Ta-da!

The trick is to then remember to return to AWB the next time you leave that room or else all your other pictures will look a bit off.
